On July 11, 2013 Facebook and Twitter was set ablaze with tweets and posts about the Sy-Fy original flick Sharknado. The film became a pop culture phenomenon due to it’s absurd story line and leaving in it’s wake a story line that can be adapted to fit any scenario. Case in point, Mosquinado. Following the success of the film many directors have set out to use this same formula to make a name for themselves. Now, Theo Lemasters of MLR Film Studios wants to bring this bloodsucking nightmare to reality and is turning to crowdfunding to obtain the budget.

It is an expensive project to take on the task of making a film. Raising money is the hardest part of film making. Even goofy movies of this sort cost around a million dollars, if not twice that, to produce…., and I really want it to look good, not stupid. That said, fortunately we are connected to some great production facilities, and with a few friendly favors called in, and maybe even a little of our own money put in, we are very confident we can make Mosquinado! if we raise $500k.
I intend to write/direct this film, and will produce it in conjunction with my production partners at MLR Film Studios. We have distribution options readily available if we make it, and we are very well inclined to tackle this production. We are currently producing a film based on the last written work of Bruce Lee called The Silent Flute. And we are in various stages of development on a few other projects.
My production partner, Sasha Maslansky, is working with his father, Paul Maslansky, on producing the reboot of Police Academy that New Line is making. Paul Maslansky is the creator of the Police Academy series, and serves as an adviser/partner to MLR Film Studios.
The film was inspired by the picture below. The picture, which is nothing “aw” inspiring or scary to say the least but these guys feel they can deliver a solid movie and we here at Horror Society support that. Check the Kickstarter page out and contribute!
