San Diego Area Will Be Horror Capital of the United States, October 31 to November 2
Dawna Lee Heising of Eye on Entertainment interviewed FANtastic Horror Film Festival co-founder JoAnn Thomas about the three-day Horror Film Festival that will be held in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego from October 31 through November 2, 2014, as part of the city’s Gaslamp Halloween Celebration. The FANtastic Horror Film Festival provides an outlet for independent horror films with a focus on movie viewers and the filmmakers. Nearly Four Dozen Horror feature films and shorts of all genres will compete for honors and Oscar®-type awards, such as “Best Picture” and “Best Actor,” as well as genre-centric awards, such as, “Best FX,” “Most Gore,” and many other horror-specific categories.
The Festival will have all the attributes of a Hollywood Film Fest, including a kick-off party, multiple red carpet events, and an awards banquet. Invitations have been extended to special guests, including the leading indie horror actors today, local dignitaries and surprise attendees.

There will be two voting periods: one to recommend the individual nominations, and a second and final voting to recommend the winners for each award. Thomas summarizes, “If FANS of Horror want a NEW horror experience, the opportunity to see films, brand-spanking-
