Lyon Productions, the motion picture studio that produced such feature films as Little Creeps and Monsters on Main Street is taking its in development original TV sitcom Roommates to Series. Brad Leo Lyon, who has wrote and produced such films as Don’t Wait Til Dawn, Bar Chronicles, and Minor League along with the aforementioned Little Creeps and Monsters on Main Street, is the creator of this comedy drama with horror undertones. The show is set to begin principal photography on a package of episodes this September.

Billed as Friends and The Big Bang Theory meets Holliston, Roommates intends to introduce a mainstream audience to a fun loving sitcom with some surprising horror elements that molds a broad range comedy audience with its cult fan counterparts that enjoys shows like The Walking Dead. The series follows a group of people who initially become roommates for all the wrong reasons.

Already cast in lead or supporting roles includes pop star Cara Quid, best known for the hit Beastie Boys’ remake “Fight,” horror icon Robert Z’Dar (Manic Cop 1-3, Tango & Cash, Mobsters), Brad Leo Lyon (Little Creeps, Monsters on Main Street, Minor League), David Lew Cooper (The Midnight Hour), and newcomer Mackenzie Trevor. Two other leads and a number of regular reoccurring characters have yet to be announced.

The series was originally slated to shoot entirely on location in the Mid-Michigan and Metro Detroit regions. However, a location issue with the apartment the main cast lives in has resulted in Lyon Production launching an Indie Go Go campaign, which can be found online at www.HelpRoommates.com. to build the set. Lyon Productions, an independent motion picture studio known for financing most of its films in house, originally raised the budget for the initial package of episodes and green lit production before the location issue was discovered. Full details and a list of exciting rewards for contributions can be found at the site.

The synopsis of Roommates is as follows: Kyle keeps loosing roommates, either due to some mysterious dark forces or simply because his paranoia that horror film monsters really exist causes them to bail. Either way, without roommates to help pay the bills the landlord is going to throw him out on the street. Enter Victor, a broke and out of work movie director whom worms his way onto the lease. No job means no rent money so Victor convinces Kyle to reluctantly join him in a scheme to find additional roommates to help with the rent. Their plan: to hold a casting call and convince people to move in on the pretense of being part of a new reality TV show. Hilarity transpires as their new roomies may be a lot more than they bargained for.
