Look for Melantha Blackthorne tonight in the premiere of THE LOTTERY on Lifetime.

melanthaIt’s always cool to see indie horror actresses in mainstream material.

Melantha Blackthorne is one of the leading ladies in the horror genre and one of few women who actually fit the true scream queen mold. Her previous credits include Sinners and Saints, Prison of the Psychotic Damned, Bloodbath: Blood Wrestling Volume 1, “Stephen King’s The Dead Zone,” Death Race, Fable: Teeth of Beasts, Mirror Mirror, No Strings 2: Playtime in Hell, Bloody Slumber Party, and Pompeii. She even has several films in production and awaiting release that include A Grim Becoming, Gilgamesh, Krampus: The Devil Returns, and The Border.

However, tonight Melantha will appear on national television on the popular women’s network, Lifetime. She will be playing the principal role of a defiant protester in the debuting series, “The Lottery.” The series is created by Timothy J. Sexton and stars Marley Shelton (Sin City, Grindhouse, Scream 4), Athena Karkanis (Saw IV, Survival of the Dead, “Lost Girl”), David Alpay (“The Vampire Diaries,” “The Tudors”), Lesley-Ann Brandt (“Spartacus,” “Single Ladies”), and Martin Donovan (Malcolm X, Insomnia, “Weeds”).

“The Lottery” is… “set in a world destined for extinction as women have stopped having children. When remarkably 100 embryos are successfully fertilized, a national lottery is held to decide the surrogates.”

You can catch the premiere trailer below, which features a glimpse of Blackthorne at about 00:16. And don’t forget to catch the actual series when it debuts tonight at 10:00PM after “Witches of East End” on only Lifetime.
