Several years back the movie scene saw a huge spike in grindhouse inspired flicks that has sadly tapered off.  However, it looks like one filmmaker can see we are lacking this kind of flicks and has set out to fix that.  Today I received the following press release regarding the upcoming film Sinners Holiday.  Check it out below:

Cinema Diablo is proud to announce that famed actor and musician John Doe, has agreed to reprise his role from the Sinners Holiday teaser — as the psycho-pervy Sheriff Ford — for the feature film. John Doe’s film roles include Julianne Moore’s hubby in Boogie Nights, Dennis Quaid’s cousin and Winnona Ryder’s dad in Great Balls of Fire, and the role of ‘Dean’ in Allison Anders and Kurt Voss’ seminal indie film Border Radio. He is currently on a major US tour with his internationally acclaimed band X.

Others that have committed to the feature film include one of the three leading femmes from the teaser, UK DJ Victoria “Harry” Harrison (the blonde pictured above), and fast rising child star, Chalet Lizzette Brannan. Martin Scorsese recently compared Chalet to a young Linda Blair.

Sinners Holiday director and producer P.J. Wolff is crisscrossing ComicCon in San Diego with pin-up model, Fräulein Merkl, today through Sunday to promote the Sinners Holiday Kickstarter campaign. The campaign targets fans of classics like The Wild One, Touch of Evil and Faster Pussycat Kill Kill as well as modern day torch-bearers, Tarantino, Rodriguez and Rob Zombie. The movie is a stylistic homage to the go-go gal/outlaw biker films of the 50’s and ’60s, belted, buckled and booted for a new generation – a tense crime thriller with a rock n’ roll sneer. The film’s teaser, posted on the Kickstarter page, entices fans from all over the globe to dig deep to get the project completed. The campaign runs through August 23rd, 2014 culminating in an explosion of gritty exuberance when $333,000 has been raised.

The Sinners Holiday teaser footage shot a few years back features notorious personalities from the worlds of music and film including Natasha Lyonne (Orange is the New Black), the above mentioned John Doe and Corey Parks (Nashville Pussy). The voice over talent of Burr Middleton (Dirty Harry trailers, Police Squad, The Choppers) lends the project a heavy dose of old school grindhouse cred.

Attached to the project on the production side are Cinematographer Christopher Blauvelt who took home the 2014 Sundance Film Festival Best Cinematographer Drama award for his work on Low Down, Sally Sue Beisel-Lander Production Manager/1st AD who has worked with some of the biggest name directors in the world including David Fincher, David O. Russell, J.J. Abrams and Gus Van Sant, and Emmy winning producer, Robert Sexton.

P.J. Wolff’s short film, 9 Minutes, recently became a Vimeo staff pick with nearly 200k views to date and was featured on io9 and shortoftheweek.com. Music industry insiders and fans know the 2001 DIY documentary/concert film, Badsville, that P.J. produced and directed and the L.A. indie rock label he helped to launch, Acetate Records.

The film is currently undergoing a crowdfunding campaign via Kickastarter.  You can contribute to the hefty goal and receive some pretty cool perks if you do.  Check it out and head over to Facebook and give the page a like to show your support!
