I’m seeing a lot of chatter on the internet that Texas Chainsaw Massacre heroine Marilyn Burns has passed away.

Marilyn is most known for playing the survivor girl, Sally Hardesty, in Tobe Hooper’s original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Her other roles include the 3x Emmy nominated Helter Skelter in in 1976, Eaten Alive in 1976, Kiss Daddy Goodbye in 1981, Future Kill in 1985, a cameo in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation in 1994, Butcher Boys in 2012, and Sacrament in 2014. Her last credit before her death was a role inside In A Man’s World. She was also tapped to appear in Dark Silence in 2015. They are all horror roles.

Ms. Burns also lent her commentary to two horror documentaries – The Horror Hall of Fame II in 1991 and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Shocking Truth in 2000.

Marilyn was born in July of 1950 in Pennsylvania. She was 64-years-old.

Thank you for your contributions to the horror genre. You are certainly an icon!

UPDATE: A representative of Marilyn Burns has spoken, and confirmed that the late actress has indeed passed.

It is with sad news that I can officially confirm that Marilyn Burns passed away today. She was found unresponsive by a family member in her Houston, TX area home. Her family asks for privacy at this time, and further details will be released later.” – CR Management
