Breaking: Texas Chainsaw Family Loses Another Member – Chainsaw 2 Producer Menahem Golan Has Passed Away.

menahemIt was only a few days ago that the horror community lost one of its greatest icons, Marilyn Burns. Now it seems that the Texas Chainsaw Massacre family has lost another important member, sequel producer Menahem Golan. Several sources are currently reporting that the producer who mostly worked in action-thrillers has passed away.

Golan executive produced over 200 titles during the peak of his career from the mid 1960s to the mid 1990s. While his MO usually found him working behind-the-scenes in action packed, fist throwing, gun shooting, hero flicks, occasionally the late producer spread his wings and tackled feature films in the horror and scifi genre.

These works include Schizoid (1980), New Year’s Evil (1980), Hospital Massacre (1982), House of Long Shadows (1983), Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986), Invaders From Mars (1986), Cyborg (1989), Night of the Living Dead first remake (1990), Invader (1992), and American Cyborg: Steel Warrior (1993).

He was also sometimes known to tackle classic children’s tales, Disney live adaptions, and superhero flicks with hints of horror and scifi.

These works include Dr. Heckyl and Mr. Hype (1980), Hercules (1983), Adventures of Hercules II (1985), Superman IV: Quest For Peace (1987), Snow White (1987), Hansel & Gretel (1987), Beauty and The Beast (1987), The Phantom of the Opera (1989), and Red Riding Hood (1989).

Menahem Golan was born in Israel in 1929. He was 85-years-old at the time of his death and a BAFTA Award nominee.

All of us here at HorrorSociety.com send his friends, family, and fans our deepest condolences during this difficult time.

R.I.P. Menaham Golan!
