13 Nickelodeon Stars Who’ve Done Horror Films.

Tween readers or parents with children, this one’s for you!

I can remember being in kindergarten when Nickelodeon was rolling out its animated juggernauts like “Rugrats,” “Hey Arnold!” and “Rocco’s Modern Life.”  Many years later now, the television network has scrapped almost all of its animated programming – except for “SpongeBob SquarePants,” thank God! – and become a more tween and teen friendly channel. I was still very into Nickelodeon during my early High School years and even watched its scripted shows while hung over during my college years.

So, in my ever expanding attempts to find useless horror film trivia, I found 13 Nickelodeon stars who’ve appeared in horror films, horror-comedies, science fiction features, psychological thrillers, or CGI blunders. Think of it as…a prerequisite to Horror 101. HorrorSociety.com owner Mitchell Wells has a baby and contributor Mac Brewer has a new born. Eventually, their children will be in that childhood tween phase. And that’s when they can start slippin’ in the horror films. “Oh, you like iCarly? Well, she was in this scary movie so let’s watch!”

Drake Bell
“The Amanda Show” (1999-2001), “Drake & Josh” (2004-2007)
-He hates Justin Bieber, does spoof comedies like Superhero Movie (2008), and indie horror titles like The L.A. Slasher (2015). What more could you ask for?

Josh Peck
“The Amanda Show” (2000-2001), “Drake & Josh” (2004-2007)
-One of the longest running staples on Nickelodeon, Josh has recently started branching out into bigger projects including ATM (2012) and The Labyrinth (2014).

Jerry Trainor
“Drake & Josh” (2004-2007), “iCarly (“2007-2012)
-Way before he struck big on Nickelodeon, Jerry took work wherever he could find it, as seen with small parts in Donnie Darko (2001 and Evolution (2002).

Sean Flynn
“Zoey 101” (2005-2008)
-He was never able to shake his semi-nerdy image and get the girl on his Nick show. Dying at the hands of a bunch of CGI monsters in Return of the Killer Shrews (2012) probably didn’t help either.

Matthew Underwood
“Zoey 101” (2005-2008)
-Despite never being on a reality show, Matthew appeared in Reality Horror Night with a lot of z-list reality stars in 2009.

Victoria Justice
“Zoey 101” (2005-2008), “Victorious” (2010-2013)
-The “Victorious” leading lady has stuck mostly with the genre that’s made her famous. However, every once and a while she tries other genres like horror-thriller The Garden (2006) and scifi’s Unknown (2006).

Miranda Cosgove
“iCarly” (2007-2012)
-The lead actress in “iCarly” and sometimes singer took a break from acting after the show ended in 2012 to pursue a proper education. When on break from university, she still books little gigs, like the upcoming horror-thriller, Introducer (2015).

Nathan Kress
“iCarly” (2007-2012)
-Currently you can find the “iCarly” leading man in Into the Storm (2014), which is in theatres nationwide and doing pretty well, too.

KeKe Palmer
True Jackson, VP (2008-2011)
-Keke gets definite props for being the first African American survivor girl in a longtime. Check her out in Animal (2014).

Matt Shively
“True Jackson, VP” (2008-2011)
-The child star with the most horror credits, Matt’s appeared in The Tomb (2007), Paranormal Activity 4 (2012), and April Apocalypse (2013).

Matt Bennett
“Victorious” (2010-2013)
–Bennett is taking the biggest leap into the realm of horror by taking part in Manson Family Vacation (2015). The whole story is bone chillingly bizarre and hopefully this upcoming movie will be, too.

Elizabeth Gillies
Victorious (2010-2013)
-She’s breaks out of her supporting role and becomes a lead in Animal (2014) and had another horror-thriller, Killing Daddy, released in the same year.

Daniella Monet
“Victorious” (2010-2013)
-She was so corny on her show, I’m actually really interested to see how she did in Rachel’s Return (2014).

  1. The only names I recognize are those from the Amanda Show. The rest are from shows i never watched, I was too old for them by the time those came out.
