Where Are They Now? : Todd Farmer

wherearetheynow

toddfarmerThis is a different kind of Where Are They now post. Todd Farmer is still very much a figure in the horror industry and he has a few projects in the pipeline. I figured this would be a nice way to promote his previous projects and tell you what he has in store for the horror genre in the future.

Todd Farmer really made it onto the radar in 2002 with his role in Jason X. The film stands as the third lowest grossing entry in the franchise and was critically panned, but it’s still noteworthy being that it’s part of one of the most iconic franchises of all time – Friday the 13th. His next big achievement was The Messengers (2007), a box office success which was produced by Sam Raimi and stars Kristen Stewart. Todd wrote the initial screenplay, but rumor has it that after several rewrites the finished script had almost no resemblance of his original work. Still, he was brought back to write Messengers II: The Scarecrow (2009), a straight-to-DVD sequel that finally used almost all of his original screenplay. Also in 2009 he appeared in My Bloody Valentine 3D, which later found itself in the top 60 movies of the year.  A few years later in 2011 he had another small part in Drive Angry 3D with Nicholas Cage. Jason X, My Bloody Valentine 3D, and Drive Angry 3D were all feature films that Mr. Farmer wrote AND was featured in.

So, where is Todd Farmer now?

Fast forward to 2013 and Todd is still enjoying success within our industry. He recently had a supporting role in Tyler Mane’s writer and producer debut, Compound Fracture (2013); as well as a cameo in comedy Cheap Thrills with Sara Paxton and Elissa Dowling in the same year. You can also find him in the documentary Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th. In 2014 he landed his first lead role in an action movie called American Muscle, which is due for release later this month. Continuing his creative streak, he finally returned to the writers’ chair with an animated drama titled, Heavenly Sword, and that should be released by the end of 2014.

Recently, Todd was attached to a horror anthology called Zombificador. Not much is known about the movie yet, but it currently has a 2016 release date. Mr. Farmer wrote the script for Halloween III, a film that hasn’t been put into production yet for a variety of reasons. When the movie does get the green light, it’ll be interesting to see whether or not they use his old script. Also, Farmer is currently working with Patrick Lussier to reboot the Hellraiser franchise.

There are great things coming in his future. Make sure you stay tuned!
