Shriekfest Film Festival to Screen World Premiere of Nightmare Code, Starring The Walking Dead’s Andrew J. West
The annual Los Angeles competition will kick off with an opening night gala October 2

The Shriekfest Film Festival, an international horror/sci-fi film and screenplay competition, has announced its 2014 lineup and is slated to screen the psychological sci-fi thriller Nightmare Code on Friday, October 3 at 8:45 p.m. The film runs second in the festival’s first night of features.

The film, written by M.J. Rotondi and Mark Netter (and also directed by Netter), follows a skilled programmer who learns that his newest assignment could result in consequences beyond his—or anyone’s—control. The film focuses on behavior recognition technology, behavior modification, and the implications of 24/7 surveillance. And there is, of course, a healthy dose of horror as well. Nightmare Code stars Andrew J. West, who plays Gareth, the dubious leader of Terminus, on AMC’s The Walking Dead.

A trailer for the film and tickets for its showing at Shriekfest, are available at

In addition to Nightmare Code, Shriekfest will screen nine other features, including the haunting Alice D., the U.S premiere of Hungerford, the L.A. premiere of the apocalyptic Chrysalis, the world premiere of House of Purgatory, the L.A. premiere of sci-fi feature Time Lapse, the world premiere of the slasher-influenced Kill Game, the L.A. premiere of Bag Boy Lover Boy, the U.S premiere of the tense Zugzwang, and the world premiere of the terrifying Berkshire County. Many of the films will be followed by Q&As with the cast or filmmakers.

In addition to the 10 features, 32 outstanding and diverse international short films, covering just about every aspect of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy.

The Shriekfest Film Festival runs October 2 – 5, 2014. An opening night party will take place at Boardners/Club Sinister in Hollywood; the rest of the festival will be at the iconic Raleigh Studios on Melrose Blvd.

Shriekfest, now in its 14th year, was created in July 2001 by Denise Gossett and has grown into the longest-running and one of the largest horror and sci-fi film festivals in the country. Since its inception, Shriekfest has offered young and upcoming writers, actors, and producers a chance to have their work screened and rated by peers.
