Halloween Blu Ray Box Set (Review)

5646

On Friday, September 19th I received my copy of the Halloween complete collection 15 disc blu ray box set and my life will forever be changed because of it.

This box set is a thing of beauty! For the first time ever we have the entire franchise (up to this point) in one box set, something that I had said was impossible a few months before the announcement as me and my coworker were watching Halloween 6 at work. When the announcement first hit the virtual newsstands I chuckled with excitement but once I found out anchor bay was attached I was a little worried that this would be more of a cash grab and would be a rehash of everything prior, bringing nothing new to the table. Well I am glad I was wrong, Shout factories involvement made this potential heartache into a goldmine of epic proportions!

As we all know for the first time ever, the producers cut of Halloween 6 is now available to the public (legally). They could of just added the grainy quality version that are featured on the bootlegs and I’m sure people would of still been excited, but they went the extra mile and cleaned the hell out of it and gave us a blu ray quality version and for that I will be forever thankful. I have seen a number of people ranting that this set features the same versions prior with hardly any new bonus features, well I agree and disagree. While the 10 disc set features probably the same releases as prior with maybe one or two new features the 15 disc set is a different story, housing a onslaught of new features thanks to its bonus disc! You get a few episodes of Horrors Hallowed Grounds, Some new interviews and making of features that takes you inside the crazy roller coaster ride that is the Halloween franchise. On top of all of that you get some new commentaries, great HD transfers, TV cuts of Halloween 1 & 2, and a really cool booklet about the halloween franchise all surrounded by amazing artwork.

If you are a casual fan and don’t really want to spend that much or care about any of the bells and whistles then get the 10 disc edition, but for the diehards I recommend saving up a little more and springing for the 15 disc set, you definitely will not be disappointed!

  1. Where is the H1 TV version of the film. H1 has two disk in its box that have the Original theater versions of the film on both disk. The first disk has the scene but only stand alone in the special features.
