Where Are They Now? : Halloween’s Lance Guest

wherearetheynow

lanceLance Guest was born in California during the month of July 1960. Eventually he went to college at UCLA where he majored in theater. Almost immediately after graduating he booked a guest spot on the popular and now historic television show, “Dallas,” in 1981. His next role was in another historic production, but it’s hard to tell if this is the one horror/scifi fans will remember him for the most. Mr. Guest booked the supporting role of Jimmy in Halloween II (1981). Jimmy is a EMT and ambulance driver who befriends and develops feelings for Laurie Strode the night she enters the hospital after Michael Myers’ first mass killing. He eventually slips on the blood of a nurse and knocks himself unconscious; he awakens, staggers out of the hospital, and falls into unconsciousness again which inadvertently reveals Laurie’s hiding spot to Michael. It was believed that Jimmy is the father of Laurie’s first child, Jamie Lloyd, but the theory is proven false as Michael kills Jimmy in the official comic book, Halloween: The First Death of Laurie Strode.

Right after this career achievement, Lance booked another huge role as the lead character in The Last Starfighter (1984). While it is not as wildly popular as other scifi titles, it does have a huge underground cult following. From there he did two “Afterschool Specials” for ABC in 1985…because, let’s be honest, everyone did them. Then, he returned to the horror genre again, this time with the creature feature sequel Jaws: The Revenge (1987). He played the lead role of Michael Brody, and this really cemented his place in horror hero history. Following that movie, he went back to television with a supporting role in “Knots Landing” in 1991, and guest spots on “The Wonder Years” and “The X-Files” in 1992 and 1995.

So, where is Lance Guest now?

He’s still acting, and he even does the occasional horror movie from time to time. He kicked off the new millennium as the lead in the scifi-comedy Stepsister from Planet Weird (2000) and the lead read in Flu Bird Horror (2008). On the television side of things, he has since appeared in guest spots on “NYPD Blue” in 2004, “House, M.D.” in 2006, and “Jericho” in 2008. He also played Johnny Cash in a huge theatrical production, which lead him to play Johnny Cash in skits on “The Late Show With David Letterman” and “The Late Show With Jimmy Fallon” in 2010 and again in All American New Year’s Eve (2013).
