Muticia the Movie Goddess and Charlotte’s Scream Queen, Ryli Morgan, will make appearances at the 40th anniversary 4K restoration screenings of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre courtesy of the Back Alley Film Series and the Charlotte Crownpoint Theatre this October 23rd and 27th. The horror hostesses will present the first ever “Scream Queen MVP Award” to the late Marilyn Burns (“Sally Hardesty” in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre).

The history of the restoration of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has been almost as legendary as the history of the film itself. Long caught up in litigation due to conflicts with the first distributor, the film moved to New Line and in the early 90’s the original film elements were found in a brown paper bag in the New Line vaults. Dark Sky Films has undertaken a series of transfers and restorations since then, but none of them equal the scope or intensity of this 40th Anniversary restoration. This is the only transfer of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to go back to the original 16mm A/B rolls and have all audio and digital color grading and supervision done by Tobe Hooper.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre screens October 23rd & 27th at 7:30 pm at the Carolina Cinemas in Charlotte. Tickets are $5 for CFS members and $10 for non-members. Visit www.backalleyfilmseries.com to buy your tickets today.

Marilyn Burns and her work in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has been an inspiration to millions of fans over the past forty years including Muticia the Movie Goddess, Ryli Morgan as well as the members of the Charlotte Film Society. The Back Alley Film Series worked in conjunction with the Carolina Cinemas to arrange these theatrical screenings of the new 4K restoration of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre for Charlotte. J.T.McRoberts, co-founder of Mutantville Productions, states that “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is one of the most terrifying films of all time largely due to the sympathetic and vulnerable performance of Marilyn Burns as “Sally”. Marilyn passed away earlier this year, but we can use this occasion to honor her influence and the lasting impression of her work.”
