Blu Review – Krull

krullbl

The 80s saw the rise of the action adventure film that fell in the wake of Star Wars.  During the early 80s we had so many of these films yet so many went unwatched or were lost in time.  In 1983 the film Krull was released and many compared it to Star Wars and Flash Gordon.  I love the original Star War trilogy and Flash Gordon so when I heard Mill Creek Entertainment was releasing this film on blu I had to see it.  Krull was a film I had never seen so I had to watch it and give the blu a review.

Just like with all my blu reviews this focuses on the release instead of the film but keep an eye out for my film review soon.  My blu reviews look at the artwork, film quality, and special features.

The artwork for this release is the original poster which can be seen above.  This artwork is amazing and I could easily see it tattooed on a fans arm, leg, etc.  It looks great and really sums up the period in which it was made.  As a collector and movie fan this is spectacular.

The film quality is great and easily one of the best Mill Creek release to date.  A lot of hard work went into restoring this film and it shows.  It looks great and is a valuable release for fans of 80s action/adventure.

Finally, the film lacks on special features.  I don’t mind a lot of documentaries and specials but I do enjoy seeing trailers, TV Spots, and the like, as well as, an audio commentary here or there.  This film has nothing to set it apart from other releases of the film and that is heartbreaking.

Overall, this is a beautiful release of Krull that is bare when it comes to special features.  If you love 80s action/adventure films then check it out.

Artwork – 4.5/5
Film Quality – 3.5/5
