“Scream: The Series” Won’t Feature Ghostface?

So… Let me get this straight. None of the main characters including Sydney (played by Neve Campbell), Dewey (David Arquette), and Gail Weathers (played by Courtney Cox) will be returning. The show will not be taking place in Hillsboro. And now, it appears that the killer in “Scream: The Series” won’t even be donning the iconic Ghostface costume.

Besides the fact that Wes Craven is on board as executive producer, is there really anything that makes “Scream: The Series” a companion television show to the four part slasher film franchise? They should just call it “Teens Talking Dramatically in Potentially Violent Scenarios.”

According to IMDB (which isn’t always the most reliable source), the pilot was enough to move MTV executives so much that the new show has been greenlit for at least three episodes. In that time there’s not even a little bit of room for a Ghostface appearance?

Speaking with Scream website GhostFace.co.uk, the owners of the costume and mask – Fun World Company – had this to say:

“Please note, that I had been in communication with TWC regarding this and they have informed me, that as of now, and during the initial launch that GHOST FACE® is not involved in the new format. They also indicated that because of this direction, it does not mean, that Ghost Face® will not be involved at a later date. So, there is still a question, to the question. However, as of now, there is no involvement.”

“Scream: The Series” will follow, “a YouTube video that goes viral, leading to problems for the teenagers of Lakewood and serves as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to the town’s troubled past. ” Confirmed cast members include Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Carlson Young, Tracy Middendorf, and John Karna.
