“Tremors” star Marcia Strassman has passed away.

As we near the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the loss of Marcia Strassman reminds us all that a special light should be shown on breast cancer awareness.

It was confirmed this afternoon that actress Marcia Strassman has passed away after a seven year battle with breast cancer. She was 66-years-old. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth.

Her sister, Julie Strassman, spoke with E! Online: “She was the funniest, smartest person I ever met, and talented. She knew everything. Now I won’t be able to call her and ask her questions.” Instead of sending flowers and cards, Julie is requesting that mourners donate to a charity focusing on breast cancer research.

During her 50 year career in Hollywood, Marcia Strassman appeared in numerous science fiction and fantasy shows including “Fantasy Island” in 1978, “Time Express” in 1979, “Shadow Chasers” in 1985, “Touched by An Angel” in 1995, a recurring voice role in Nickelodeon’s “Aaahh!!! Real Monsters” from 1995-1997, and the television adaption of the popular creature feature franchise, “Tremors,” in 2003 in which she played the lead role. Her biggest role in this category was Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) and Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (1992).

She appeared in two horror films – Haunted by Her Past (1987) and Reeker (2005).

Her other credits include a recurring role in “M*A*S*H” from 1972-1973, a lead role in “Welcome Back, Kotter” from 1975-1979, and a recurring role in “Third Watch” in 2004.
