Original “Addams Family” Star Ken Weatherwax Has Passed Away.

Ken_Weatherwax“The Addams Family” is one of the most beloved horror themed shows in film/television history. The original idea and characters have gone through so many changes, adaptions, and re-incarnations. There’s a reason The Addams Family – Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Pugsley, and Wednesday – have such a cult following and we all know what it is. One thing about them, though, is that they love death. In this unfortunate case, it looks like Pugsley has made it to the after-life to join some of his extended family.

All of the media outlets are reporting that the original actor who played Pugsly, Ken Weatherwax, has passed away. His cause of death is being ruled as a massive heart attack which took his life in his home in California. He was 59-years-old. The news was confirmed late this evening by his nephew in a statement with the LA Times.

Ken Weatherwax played Pugsley during the original television adaption of “The Addams Family” which consisted of 64 episodes that ran from 1964-1966. He reprised this role two times in the future, as a voice over in “The Addams Family” animated movie in 1973 and in the special, Halloween with the New Addams Family (1977). As with most child stars, Weatherwax’s star began to dim as he hit puberty and he eventually left Hollywood for a career in the United States Army for several years. Later in life, he returned to California and worked as a set builder and a grip on the Universal Studios lot.

All of us here at HorrorSociety.com send our condolenses to his family, friends, and fans.
