In an interview posted in May 2014, series creator Simon Barry stated that he had seven to ten seasons of material envisioned already to continue “Continuum.” It looks like he went a few steps ahead of himself and now his hard work may not see the light of day. It was announced earlier this week that “Continuum” had been renewed for a fourth season, a season that would only consist of six episodes including the series finale. Yes, “Continuum” was basically renewed and cancelled in the same announcement. Season four is set to air on the SyFy networks in 2015.

Recently SyFy decided to revamp the network and produce more science-fiction based original material instead of recycled reality shows, syndicated dramas, and big budgeted horror films from yesteryear. It’s odd to me that “Continuum” would be cancelled after this decision, especially since it is definitely considered science-fiction with the time travel element being used so prevalently. The show was even averaging 780,000 viewers per episode, which is up from season two and not bad considering the show is an important.

“Continuum” is a British series set in Canada that also airs on SyFy in America. The show follows: “City Protective Services (CPS) law enforcement officer Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols), who lives a quiet, normal life with her husband and son in 2077-era Vancouver. When a group of self-proclaimed freedom fighters known as “Liber8″ escape execution by fleeing to the year 2012, Kiera is involuntarily transported with them into the past. Joining with Detective Carlos Fonnegra (Victor Webster) and the Vancouver Police Department, and enlisting the help of teen computer genius Alec Sadler (Erik Knudsen), Kiera works to track down and thwart Edouard Kagame (Tony Amendola) and his followers in the present day while concealing her identity as a time-traveler from the future. Fighting to return home to her family, Kiera finds that her presence in 2012, and that of the members of Liber8, may be no accident at all.”
