Will murder-mystery fans finally see “CHILL” in 2015?

968866_615828385128390_572412471_nI can’t believe it’s been over a year since I got a chance to view Chill. Still, I think my sentiments toward the film are as poignant today as they were in July 2013. There is a hole in the horror film market in terms of true, suspenseful murder-mysteries; a good ol’ who-done-it that keeps you entertained with grizzly thrills and guessing until the very end. Chill could very well fill that void and revitalize the latent subgenre of horror film.

I think what has revitalized my interest in the film is both equal parts waiting for an official release announcement and the fact that the film has been re-edited. Currently, Chill is being sent to the best independent distributors in the business with hopes of acquiring a worthwhile deal. After screening at a handful of festivals over the years, the crew working behind the scenes at Mouse Nest Productions and Rising Pulse Productions have made a series of edits to make Chill more appealing to fans across the board.

Speaking personally with lead actor and support staff, Roger Conners, Chill’s revamping can be attributed to feedback from viewers who have managed to see the movie through its various screenings: “We wanted to indulge our early fans in knowing that we truly appreciate their feedback, so we went back in and gave the movie a final edit. We re-color corrected the whole thing, trimmed-fat, added some quality CGI, and re-scored from beginning to end. The final result is a faster, slicker, and completely darker film that feels completely relevant while still paying tribute to the classic slashers of the 80’s and 90’s.”

As I mentioned, Chill is seeking a distributor and is already beginning to receive some responses. Sources close to the film are hopeful that they will have an official announcement regarding distribution by the beginning of the new year.

Chill is written and directed by Noelle Bye and Meredith Holland with Roger Conners. Cast members include Kelly Rogers, Brad Arner, DJ Remark, Jason Orr, Angelia DeLuca, David Gilmore, Mike Kafury, Erinn Bakun, Ash Katt, Janine Bowles Sarnowski, Theresa Pedone, Rick Montgomery Jr, Bella Sin, and Benny Benzino.

“November 17, 1988, is a day of mourning for some and for others, a lucrative opportunity. On that date, eight university students were found murdered in the old arts building at the college. An anonymous source told police the 20-somethings were in the midst of a local role-playing game, called Chill. The name of the game is to stay alive. But for the players that November evening, few would be getting up for another round. But when a scheming student decides to profit from the tragedy and revive the whodunit game as a web series, the new players soon discover, for some, this game is still all too real…
