Kyle MacLachlan Headed Back to ‘Twin Peaks’ Once Again for Showtime

Twin Peaks

Kyle MacLachlan’s Agent Dale Cooper is headed back to the town of Twin Peaks once again to star in Showtime’s nine-episode limited series. The new Twin Peaks series will be from original creators David Lynch and Mark Frost.

Kyle MacLachlan Twin PeaksKyle MacLachlan has closed a deal to topline the new Twin Peaks limited series for Showtime.

The nine-episode series will go into production in 2015 for a premiere in 2016 to mark the 25th anniversary of when the series finished its run on ABC. Lynch and Frost are writing and produce all nine episodes, with Lynch directing every episode.

MacLachlan helped make the announcement at TCA, coming out on stage unannounced to the Twin Peaks theme, offering Showtime topper David Nevins coffee with one of Agent Cooper’s most famous catch phrases, “Damn good coffee.”

MacLachlan has this to say about the project, “I’m very excited to return to the strange and wonderful world of Twin Peaks. May the forest be with you.”

The new Twin Peaks is set in the present day, more than two decades after the events in the first two seasons. It will continue the lore and story of the original series, with Lynch and Frost committed to providing long-awaited answers and, hopefully, a satisfying conclusion to the series.
