For many of us, horror invades EVERY aspect of our lives. We watch the movies, read the books, read the comics, listen to the soundtracks and e.p.s, collect the actions figures and toys, and play the video games. Back in the day horror fans had several classic (and often shitty) horror games on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). We had films like Castlevania, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Zombie Nation, Ghoul School and several movie adaptations like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm St. If you are like me then you grew up playing a lot of NES games and you have a sense of nostalgia about the retro console.
Today I discovered a documentary about a young man who is taking 30 days to track down the entire original Nintendo game line without using the internet. This will include the horror games I listed above. I reached out to the doc’s Facebook page, Nintendo Quest, and was sent news of a Kickstarter campaign to serve as a way for fans to order the DVD and all the proceeds will go towards making a game about the doc’s antagonist’s journey. Fans of retro gaming and great documentaries should really check out this Kickstarter because it may be the only way you will ever get a copy of the film!
