Women in Horror: #InYouToGive Massive Blood Drive.

1476213_10153560216100558_2232766836726320488_nAs I’m sure most of you already know, February is Women in Horror Month, a time when we celebrate and recognize all the fantastic female filmmakers who are killing it to bring their darkest nightmares to a screen near you. If you follow the Women in Horror Facebook page, you’ll find tons of great articles and periodicals highlighting women’s success stories and facts as to why it’s important to give women in horror – and all genres of cinema – the props they deserve.

And what’s the point of promoting talented female filmmakers and spreading equality among the masses if you can’t do something good with the attention you’re bringing to your product or cause? This is just another area where Women in Horror Month excels – The Massive Blood Drive. For the sixth year in a row, the group who run WiH and all of their supporters are urging horror lovers to donate blood TODAY. While we love seeing it splattered across the walls during a good slasher flick, real blood is severely needed in hospitals around the country and your blood donation can save a life!

WiH is even trying to make the nerve racking experience a little more enjoyable this year. If you manage to get your picture taken (or just take a selfie) while giving blood, hop on to Twitter or Facebook and hashtag #InYouToGive. You’ll be sent a virtual blood bag with your vitals on it and you’ll will be added to the official directory to be published at a later date.

If you need a little bit more motivation, then check out this kick ass Massive Blood Drive PSA below which features Gigi Saul Guerrero, Hannah Neurotica, Maude Michaud, Tamae Garateguy, Jimena Monteoliva, Jessica Cameron, Patricia Chica, Jill Sixx, Chelsey Burdon, and the Soska Sisters.

Remember, “If there were other ways to get blood, we wouldn’t need you!” Donate blood at a local health center near you and don’t forget to hashtag #InYouToGive!
