Toronto, Ontario, March 3rd, 2015 – Independent Toronto singer/songwriter Gavin Slate releases his new music video for the song Hold You Close today.

Gavin Slate has been known for his original and powerful music videos in collaboration with Filmmaker Gavin Michael Booth and Hold You Close pushes those boundaries yet again. The story of troubled young love spiralling out of control with drug addiction brings a visually moving short film style video.

Hold You Close marks the fifth collaboration for Slate and Booth; including their last highly successful video for Life As A Salesman which featured the infamous “Starbucks Prank”. Slate decided to take his independent singer/songwriter career a step further and declare himself “Song Pick Of The Week” at Starbucks across Toronto . He made his own download cards and printed thousands of them. Booth then filmed everything, hidden video style, as Slate took to the streets to hit up nearly every Starbucks location in the city, adding his cards to the free weekly offer stands.

The powerful Hold You Close video stars Sarah Booth, who currently can be seen on the SYFY/Showcase series Helix and Ryan Kotack who’s indie thriller In The House Of Flies was recently released on home video.

Gavin Slate has this to say of his continued collaboration with Booth & his production company Mimetic Entertainment: Mimetic has completely changed the music video game for independent artists like myself. Affordable, high quality work each and every time. They have a way of capturing the style and vibe of each band/artist they work with in a unique and compelling fashion. Its no surprise to me that so many of their videos have gone viral.

Booth on collaborating with Slate: Gavin Slates music always pulls on powerful emotions and this short-film style filmmaking allows a director to tell tales that cant be as powerful when also trying include footage of the artist performance. I commend Slate for his decision to not appear in the video and let the actors and story showcase the song on their own.
