It was only announced on Monday that “Eastenders” star Sam Strike would be playing teenage Leatherface in the upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel. As promised, more casting updates have been announced and things are starting to shape up nicely.

Dreadcentral and The Wrap have exclusively reported that Angela Bettis and James Bloor have signed on to appear in Leatherface. Bettis has been confirmed to play the role of Mother Sawyer, while Bloor’s role is a yet to be clarified maniac.

Angela Bettis is no stranger to the horror genre. Her previous contributions to the field include May (2002), Carrie (2002), Toolbox Murders (2004), and The Woman (2008). James Bloor is a newcomer to Hollywood and with so few credits to his name, if this movie is made correctly, this could be a huge launch pad for him!

I can’t wait to see how things continue, my interesting in this project is finally starting to develop.

According to Dread, Leatherface‘s official synopsis is summarized as: “In this prequel to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, a young nurse is kidnapped by a group of violent teens who escape from a mental hospital and take her on a road trip from hell. Pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge, one of these teens is destined for tragedy and horrors that will destroy his mind, molding him into the monster we now call Leatherface.”

French directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are tapped to direct the feature. The duo are most known for 2007’s Inside and the X is for Xylophone segment in The ABC’s of Death 2 in 2014. Seth M. Sherwood has reportedly written the script, which will be put into motion by producers Christa Campbell, Lati Grobman, and Carl Mazzacone in a joint collaboration between Campbell Grobman Films, Lionsgate, and Mainline Pictures.
