“It Follows” Made BANK on Opening Weekend.

It Follows hit select theaters on Friday, March 13th and when I say select theaters, I mean select theaters. The film festival award winning feature shot in Michigan received a limited theatrical release from Radius -TWC in only four theaters across the United States. That didn’t stop it from pulling in big numbers, though, at least as far as four theaters are concerned. Sources are reporting that It Follows brought in $163,000 in ticket sales during its opening weekend, which translates to about $40,750 per screen. This meant that it placed within the top 30 moves of the last few days. If the trend continues, this horror film should still debut in the top 40 at the end of the week.

My hope is that this great turn out makes other theaters give It Follows a chance because more theaters screening it means more opportunity for us to see it.

It Follows is the second feature film written and directed by David Robert Mitchell. Cast members featured within include Maika Monroe (Labor Day), Keir Gilchrist (“United States of Tara”), Jake Weary (“Pretty Little Liars”), Daniel Zovatto (“Revenge”), Olivia Luccardi, Lili Sepe, and Bailey Spry.

According to IMDB, the synopsis is listed as, “For nineteen-year-old Jay, Autumn should be about school, boys and week-ends out at the lake. But after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, she finds herself plagued by strange visions and the inescapable sense that someone, something, is following her. Faced with this burden, Jay and her friends must find a way to escape the horrors that seem to be only a few steps behind.”
