Act Fast: We Need Your Help in Saving the Bridge from “Dawn of the Dead.”

07-Monroeville Mall Dawn of the Dead Bridge2

There comes a point in every horror fan’s life when they need to make a conscience effort to do something good for the sake of horror history, and in this case it’s as easy as signing a petition. Fans of the genre united to save the house featured in Psycho this past winter and now your help is needed again in hopes of saving a set piece from George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead.

As many of you know, much of the 1978 zombie film took place in a real life mall located in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Over the last three decades, the mall has gone through some renovations resulting in the loss of the original platforms and structures used in Dawn of the Dead. The last remaining set piece, the bridge, featured below, is scheduled to be demolished in the next few days due to another revamp inside the mall. That means one of the last true artifacts from Romero’s original trilogy will be lost forever.

That’s where you come in. Freedom fighters Kate Davis and Lawrence DeVincentz has drafted up a petition through ThePetitionSite.com to raise awareness and send a strong message to the Monroeville Mall. We want to save the bridge, at any cost! The petition is only looking for 1,500 signatures and as of this writing it’s already amassed 1,068 but every single signature counts! And time is of the essence! Demolition could take place at any time! If we somehow manage to save the bridge through this petition, the goal is to carefully remove the set piece and move it to Kevin Kriess’ The Living Dead Museum in Evans City, Pennsylvania.

Signing is simple, just click the link below and help save a small piece of horror history.
