Could we possibly have our first #1 horror film of 2015?
Insidious 3 hit 3,002 theaters in America last night and estimates are starting to trickle in as to just how well it performed. According to sources, Insidious 3 made $10,400,000 in ticket sales on opening night. This made it the #1 movie of Friday night, just barely beating out Spy by $150,000.
It’s going to be hard to gage where the movie will come in by the end of the week. Spy has 699 more theaters under its belt and San Andreas is showing signs of a strong second week. As far as predictions go, Insidious 3 will probably take the #2 spot, although I’ll keep me hopes out that it somehow snatches the #1 spot by weeks end.
Here’s how well it performed as compared to the opening nights of the past two films:
Insidious 2 – $20,231,000
Insidious 3 – $10,400,000
Insidious – $4,776,000
Top five movies for Friday, June 5:
Insidious 3 – $10,400,000
Spy – $10,250,000
San Andreas – $7,650,000
Entourage – $3,705,000
