Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension to be last in franchise, first trailer inside!

I’ll be honest, I stopped watching watching the Paranormal Activity franchise mid-way through the third movie. If anything, I think it should have stayed as a one shot film instead of beating the way dead horse with a stick. People still seem to love the series, though, and the films are insanely cheap to produce which means Blumhouse Productions and Paramount Pictures always rake in millions upon millions of extra revenue.

Some time ago an executive behind Paranormal Activity stated that the franchise could continue to at least a seventh movie, but it was confirmed this week that Paranormal Activity 5: The Ghost Dimension will be final entry in the found footage franchise. Speaking publicly on the decision to cap off the series now, Jason Blum commented, “It’s coming to an end. This is it, the finale. We’re saying it before the movie opens. We’re not going to grind this horror franchise into the ground. This will keep Paranormal Activity as part of this culture and this particular time in a really fantastic way… All the questions that everyone has asked from the past ‘Paranormal Activity’ films: What does Toby look like? What’s the backstory to the families? These questions have been teased out. Now they will be answered.”

And all of your questions will be answered this Fall when Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension hits theaters nationwide beginning on October 23, 2015.

According to Wikipedia, “The film will follow supernatural occurrences that take place in a newly moved family’s home in Palo Alto, California. The family consists of four members including Ryan, a game developer, Ryan’s wife Emily, a stay-at-home mom described as “more serious than her young husband—she’s constantly on the go, does yoga, and though loving, has an air of maturity about her,” their 6-year-old daughter Leila, described as “a fearless, opinionated tomboy,” and Ryan’s younger brother described as a “less fit, less funky version of his brother.” Judging from the newly released trailer – featured below – the brothers will discover a special ghost hunting camera which allows them to see various… ahem, dimensions…of the supernatural, allowing them to see the evil forces haunting the home.

Paranormal Activity 5: The Ghost Dimension stars Katie Featherston, Chris J. Murray, Brit Shaw and Ivy George.
