Is There A Serial Killer Preying on Women in Chillicothe, Ohio?

th (1)

This is, unfortunately, one of those cases when reality mirrors horror film.

Chillicothe, Ohio, a town of only 21,000 people located an hour south of Columbus, is being labeled “The Town Where Women Go to Die” by various members of the press. In the last thirteen months, the bodies of four women have been found and another two women are currently being reported as missing. Sources are clear in saying that Chillicothe is known for its rampant drug and prostitution problems, but there’s still something that is baffling local authorities; so much so that the FBI has stepped in to help with the investigation.

It all started when Charlotte Trego went missing in May 2014. She went missing the same day that her close friend, Tameka Lynch was also added to the missing person’s registry. Trego has yet to return home, but Lynch was found deceased by kayakers on a sandbar in Paint Creek. Her death was ruled as a drug overdose at the time, although her family maintains that she was afraid of water and would never have ventured so close to the creek as to fall in and drown. Wanda Lemons was the next to disappear and she has yet to return home either.

Shasta Himelrick’s body was discovered in January 2015; her car with a dead battery and her body floating below a bridge nearby. Her cause of death was ruled as a suicide despite family and friends maintaining that she was beyond thrilled to be “eating for two.” The next poor soul was Timberly Clayton, who was shot three times in the head in a very apparent homicide. Was this the only sure-fire murder? Not likely. Tiffany Sayre’s body was discovered on Saturday, June 20 inside a drainage pipe. She had been wrapped in a sheet with duct tape surrounding all parts of her hair. No official cause of death was reported.

It’s obvious to suspect that the four deceased women and two missing women were victims of drug deals, drug using and prostitution gone wrong because that’s a very stark and valid reality. But, the last two women to lose their lives were very clearly murdered and the FBI have stepped in to help with the investigation. Is there a serial killer on the loose in Chillicothe, Ohio? Only time will tell. Stay safe, ladies!

Also, Charlotte Trego and Wanda Lemons are still reported as missing. Trego is 28-years-old, Caucasian, 5’4″ and 160 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Lemons is Caucasian, 5’7″ and 135 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. If you know of their whereabouts or have any information that may lead to solving these cases, you can supply information anonymously by contacting the Chillicothe Police at 740-773-1191 and the Ross County – Chillicothe Missing Persons Task Force at 740-774-FIND or by emailing drugtips@chillicothepolice.com, www.southernohiocrimestoppers.com and www.chillicothepolice.com.
