British sci-fi doesn’t have an massively illustrious tradition in robots and games, but Pixelbomb Games in Manchester is looking to change that, in association with Microsoft by launching its’ title on the Xbox One and the upcoming Windows 10.

Beyond Flesh and Blood features 4 models of mighty mechs and lacerated limbs in a bid to save earth from alien destruction.

The 18+ game will deliver a distinctly fresh indie horror story experience to the dystopian trope of the post-apocalypse, but with hints of sci-fi: it has since been revealed that mechs in the game are controlled with the player’s mind – a possible look forward to the future an a VR version of the game – which is why there are no recover packs and limited lives for certain mechs.

Beyond Flesh and Blood is set to raise the bar for indie gaming on Xbox One, creating a challenging, story-led, serious mech-gore 3PS experience all set within the UK city of Manchester.

Featuring the real-life locations of Beetham Tower and Albert Square (complete with a Town Hall), the single-player videogame features iconic landmarks and 4 huge, hulking mechs to choose from. Beyond Flesh and Blood promises dropships, drones and menacing alien enemy classes that make the most of Unreal 4, as well as subtle artful homage to traditional Japanese mech culture with a British sci-fi twist.

Oh, and no handholding. (More like hand severing, to be fair.)

This game will be tough.
Lee Blacklock said: “We are extremely proud to be part of the ID@Xbox program. Their presence at major events has been incredible; and as busy as he is, Agostino Simonetta being present to chat to developers speaks volumes about Microsoft’s real commitment to indies like us.”

Following nearly 10,000 PC demo downloads, Pixelbomb Games are extremely excited to be releasing this game onto Xbox One in 2016, via ID@Xbox, the self-publishing program.
