What is MY UNCLE JOHN IS A ZOMBIE?
50 years ago, George A. Romero and John A. Russo wrote a screenplay that would introduce the world to the flesh-eating zombie phenomena. Night of the Living Dead was born. An undeniable horror classic, this film kicked off the careers of George Romero and John Russo, with George following up on NOTLD‘s success with classics like Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, and others, and John following up with Return of the Living Dead, Escape of the Living Dead, the 1990 Remake of Night of the Living Dead and others.
Today, the zombie genre is bigger and more popular than ever, with shows like The Walking Dead and iZombie, and zombie comedy has always been at the forefront of fan popularity with movies like Return of the Living Dead (and its sequels) andShawn of the Dead.
In fact, the time has never been better for one of the genre’s founders to come back on the scene with a new legendary masterpiece.
And with that, we present to you… MY UNCLE JOHN IS A ZOMBIE!
MY UNCLE JOHN IS A ZOMBIE! is a screenplay written by NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD co-creator John A. Russo and centers around a zombie whose family took him in and rehabilitated him (to a degree), and he has been living in hiding all of these years. Now in a post-zombie, modern world, Uncle John is about to be discovered.
As word gets out about Uncle John and the fact that, although he is a zombie, he still has considerable communication skills and a witty sense of humor, his popularity starts to spread faster than the zombie apocalypse itself, with news coverage (and fame) growing by the day.
However, there are some people who do not want to see zombies of any kind getting notoriety, who believe that the only good zombie is a dead zombie, and make it their mission to capture Uncle John and have a little fun at their hunt club.
This project is very special in the fact that it was crafted by John Russo and the fact that John will be playing the lead role in the film! John played the Tire Iron Zombie in NOTLD and now we can see him as the lead zombie in this full length feature.

Fans have been waiting YEARS to see a BRAND NEW NOTLD sequel. With MY UNCLE JOHN IS A ZOMBIE!, this might be as close as we are going to get to one!
The world of film financing has changed, and it’s harder now than ever to get a film like this financed, even with the success of other zombie properties. Hollywood wants big names attached to their projects and THEIR studios to produce it. Thankfully, we’ve managed to secure most of the funding we need – now we’re asking you to help us make the film the absolute best it can be.
We believe in the old-school way of making a horror movie. To make the film the way WE want it, physical and real, we need our accompanying graphic novel produced (which will serve as the movie’s storyboards), the best set designs, and actor retainers ready before we can before we go into production.
The budget for this film is $120,000. The producers and director have raised ALMOST $100K of this, however we are still short. Here’s where you come in. We are asking for just under $30,000.00. If we can fund this amount, we can make our film! Here is a breakdown of how your money will be used:
