Sad news tonight as reports are coming in that Polish writer/director Marcin Wrona was found dead in his hotel room on Friday. The man, who passed at 42, was hailed as one of the most promising directors in Polish cinema.

What makes the news even sadder is that Wrona was getting a warm embrace from the horror community. While he dabbled somewhat with horror and thrillers with previous films The Parasite (2003), My Flesh My Blood (2009) and The Christening (2010), his latest film, Demon, was really striking a cord with fans. Demon had just world premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last week.

Demon was also scheduled to screen at the Gdynia Film Festival, Fantastic Fest and Sitges Film Festival before receiving a full theatrical release Poland this October. Demon is described as a new take on the popular Jewish ghost-tale involving the dybbuk box.

All of us at HorrorSociety.com send our condolences to his family, friends and fans. So sad to see such a young man pass just before his dreams became a reality. Who knows what nightmares he still had in store for us.
