Horror Sales: Goosebumps, Crimson Peak in Top 5 on Opening Night.

Goosebumps_(film)_poster

Could Goosebumps become the first and maybe only horror themed movie to take the top spot at the box office in 2015? Two horror films opened in theaters last night and their ticket sales were just reported.

Goosebumps was the leader of the pack, taking the #1 spot at the box office on Friday after an intake of $7,350,000 in ticket sales.

Crimson Peak wasn’t too far behind, coming in at #4 with $5,270,000 in ticket sales.

Crimson Peak may have been a notch or two higher, especially when looking at theater count where Goosebumps is in 3,501 theaters and Crimson Peak is only in 2,984. Both films need to cross $60,000,000 in total gross by the end of their run to be successful.

My predictions? Goosebumps will probably make $28-30,000,000 during the weekend and $42,000,000 by next Friday. Crimson Peak will probably make $23-29,000,000 during the weekend and $35,000,000 by next Friday.

Top 5 on Friday, October 16:
1 Goosebumps – $7,350,000
2 The Martian – $6,350,000
3 Bridge of Spies – $5,347,000
4 Crimson Peak – $5,270,000
5 Hotel Transylvania 2 – $3,350,000
