ami_dolenz_2009_10_10Ami Dolenz was born in January 1969 in the state of California. When she was 18-years-old she landed the role of Melissa McKee in “General Hospital” from 1987 to 1989 before enjoying minor recurring roles on shows such as “Growing Pains,” “Ferris Bueller,” “Leave it to Beaver” and “Silver Spoons.” It was then that she came to horror film notoriety with a string of lead and supporting roles in titles such as Children of the Night (1991), Stepmonster (1993), Ticks (1993), Witchboard II (1993) and Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings (1993).

Two years later she returned to the horror and science fiction genres as the female lead in Virtual Seduction. Following this return, she went back to television with guest spots in “Dark Realm,” “Pacific Blue” and “Teen Angel” all between 1997 and 2001. She continued to act sporadically for the next few years, but was never featured in any prominent projects. Then a small retirement began.

So, where is Ami Dolenz now?

Ami experienced a second wind in her career near the end of the 2000’s. She played the female lead in 2012 Doomsday (2008) and a supporting role in House Rules for Bad Girls (2009) before booking a guest spot in “Rules of Engagement” in 2010. Her last on screen credit was in drama Committed (2010). Behind-the-scenes, though, Dolenz worked as a dog wrangler in The Last Sentinel (2007) and produced a short drama Even If (2007).

Following her second retirement from acting, she started making frequent appearances as horror conventions so she could meet her fans. She also teaches acting classes and published a book through Friesenpress in 2013, Harold & Agatha: The Mysterious Jewel. She also updates her Facebook fan page regularly: https://www.facebook.com/amidolenzfans.
