Voice, Stage Actor Arthur Anderson Has Passed Away.

arthur-andersonRadio personality, stage performer and voice actor Arthur Anderson passed away on Saturday, April 9th 2016. The news was confirmed by a close friend who also reported that the entertainer passed peacefully at his home in NYC from a longtime illness. He was 93-years-old.

Arthur got his start performing in Orson Welles’ Mercury Theatre and on the radio show “Let’s Pretend,” where children did their own versions of classic fairy tales. Eventually, Arthur landed the role of Lucky, The Lucky Charms cereal mascot; a vocal job he held for almost thirty years! He also lent his talent as the mascot in television ads for Drake’s Cakes.

As far as film and television goes, Mr. Anderson did a few things in Hollywood, but since this is a horror website I’d like to highlight that he guest starred in an episode of “Dark Shadows” in 1966 and played bit parts in Dead of Night (1974) and A Very Star Wars Christmas (1982). Most importantly, he played Eustace Bagge in the last 18 episodes of “Courage the Cowardly Dog” which ran on Cartoon Network in 2002. His last film role was in 2014’s The Fog, of which he voiced the title character.

All of us here at HorrorSociety send our condolences to his family, friends and fans.
