Andrea Laing: From ‘Bad Girl’ to Killer Actress.

10387684_728683927240885_2569314472599767686_nEvery year the reality television machine churns out dozens of popular reality stars who are desperate to extend their 15 minutes of fame. Some try to land a record deal, some give modeling a shot, but the bulk of them attempt to launch professional acting careers which never take off. A whole bunch of them, unfortunately, wind up in a low budget horror movie before quickly fading into obscurity. One such reality star, Andrea Laing, has broke the curse and is carving out a name for herself in mainstream Hollywood.

Laing first appeared on television screens during the debut season of Oxygen’s #1 show “Bad Girls Club” in 2007. The series, currently airing its 15th season, put Oxygen Channel on the map and followed seven self proclaimed bad girls as they attempt to curb their bad behavior and mature, the stress ultimately leading to several arguments and fist fights per season. Andrea entered the house as a replacement with Joanna Hernandez after two cast members left the mansion, one for physical violence and the other because she outgrew the process. Andrea struggled to bond with the other girls as they were uninterested in entertaining a new person in the house, though she ended up starring in six episodes in season one and returned for two episodes of the spin-off “Bad Girls: Road Trip.”

Having used reality television as a stepping stone in her career as an entertainer, Andrea started seeking out film and television rules as soon as 2008, which saw her as a featured extra in Chainsaw Cheerleaders. Although she was consistently finding work in other genres, Laing didn’t return to our favorite genre until she starred in the 2013 short film Zombie College: The 5 Rules of Lab Safety and played a supporting role in Key Road (2015). Now being able to juggle mediums, she made the jump to back to television, recurring in two episodes of “Teen Wolf” in 2012 and appearing in an episode of “The Vampire Diaries” in 2016.

Next up you can see Andrea playing a minor role in RINGS, the third movie in the franchise that sees Samara killing victims through the use of a VHS curse. Paramount has its release slated for October 28, 2016!
