She’s Back! Scout Taylor-Compton Has 4 New Horror Movies Due in 2016!

scout2016Teen Queen turned fledgling Scream Queen, Scout Taylor-Compton started her career working in high profile teen productions before transitioning to more mature roles. With a small part in 13 Going on 30, playing one of the leads in Sleepover and recurring in “Charmed,” “Gilmore Girls” and “Unfabulous,” Compton leaped into horror in 2006’s After Dark Original Wicked Little Things; but people didn’t start pegging her as an up-and-coming scream queen until she played Laurie Strode 2.0 in Rob Zombies Halloween and H2. From there she played the second female lead in the April Fool’s Day remake, a supporting role in Beyonce’s psychological thriller Obsessed, one of the leads in vampiric Life Blood and claustrophobic imprisonment 247 Degrees Fahrenheit.

That’s kind of where the route of scream queen in the making took a turn as the roles in horror dried up in favor of (I’m sure) more lucrative roles such as a guest spot on “Major Crimes” and recurring role on ABC’s “Nashville.” While it’s been five years since Scout has returned to the world of blood and guts, it looks like she’s finally ready to return to the throne and take over, further advancing her career in horror film. It all starts with the long delayed Flight 7500, a scifi-horror film that was just released on DVD following two or more years in the vault. I’ve seen the movie and reviewed it and I can guarantee it’s worth a watch! This, of course, was just the start of good things to come.

Scout Taylor-Compton has four new horror and science-fiction movies coming out in 2016.

Let’s start with Ghost House, the one I’m most excited for. Ghost House also stars James Landry Hebert (“Agent Carter,” Dylan Dog: Dead of Night) and Mark Boone Junior (Se7en, “Sons of Anarchy”). Ghost House has officially completed principal photography, released its one sheet and is currently awaiting a proper release date. Then there’s Penance Lane, which also recently wrapped principal photography and is starting up post-production as I type. Penance Lane puts Scout back on screen with co-star Tyler Mane (Michael Myers 2.0 in Rob Zombie’s Halloween) as well as John Schneider (“Smallville) in a film about a handyman hired to repair a dilapidated house and the horrors that await him inside.

Feral has finished all processes of production and follows six medical students on a weekend trip to the woods, who are eventually attacked by a wild animal who infects them with a mysterious disease that turns them into rabid creatures. Olivia Luccardi (It Follows) and Lew Temple (“The Walking Dead”) also star and I have a feeling this one could end up in theaters. Finally, there’s Andover, a scifi movie about a man cloning his dead wife which will also star Jonathan Silverman (Weekend at Bernie’s) and Jennifer Finnigan (“Dead Zone,” “Tyrant”).

Here’s looking forward to 2016 being The Year of the Scout!
