  • 1974 – A.J. Langer, has appeared in “Poltergeist: The Legacy (TV Series)”, “Escape from L.A.”, “The People Under the Stairs.”
  • 1972 – Max Brooks, son of Mel Brooks, is an American horror author who wrote the novels and screenplays for ” The Zombie Survival Guide”, “World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War” and more.
  • 1940 – Michael Sarrazin, co-starred in “Feardotcom”, “Poltergeist: The Legacy (TV Series)”, “Arrival II”, “The Reincarnation of Peter Proud”, “Frankenstein: The True Story.”
  • 1939 – The late Paul Winfield, appeared in “Dead of Night”, “The Legend of Gator Face”, “Mars Attacks!”, “The Serpent and the Rainbow”, “The Terminator”, “Damnation Alley” and many more.
  • 1938 – Richard Benjamin, starred in such films as “Saturday the 14th”, “Love at First Bite”, “Westworld” and more.
  • 1916 – Rupert Davies, has appeared in “The Night Visitor”, “The Oblong Box”, “Curse of the Crimson Altar”, “Dracula Has Risen from the Grave”, “The Conqueror Worm”, “The Brides of Fu Manchu”, and much more.
  • 1859 – Sir Arthur Conan Doyle created the famous detective Sherlock Holmes and many of his stories.

DIED ON THIS DAY IN HORROR HISTORY – MAY 22

  • 2005 – Thurl Ravenscroft, was a tremendous voice actor and known for his deep, booming voice. He voiced hundreds of characters including singing the song “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” in the holiday classic “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!”, many Disney characters and provided the voice for the narrator in Disney’s Haunted Mansion ride. He was also the voice of the popular “Tony the Tiger” breakfast cereal character. He passed away at the age of 91.
  • 1984 – John Marley was a popular character actor who appeared in such genre fare as “It Lives Again”, “The Car”, “Kolchak: The Night Stalker (TV Series)”, “Dead of Night”, “The Dead Are Alive”, “Land of the Giants (TV Series)”, “The Outer Limits (TV Series)” and so many more. He passed at the age of 76.
