“The Nursery” Indie Horror Builds Huge 35,000 Facebook Fan Following

Following a successful crowdfunding campaign that ended earlier this month, the in-development indie horror film The Nursery has grown its social fan base in unprecedented fashion, swelling  to more than 35,000 Facebook fans after only a few months of project development.

“Without ‘name’ talent or a brand-name franchise, this level of social media support and following is flat-out unprecedented for an indie horror feature like this!” noted co-executive producer and co-director Christopher Micklos.

“We’ve been blown away by the level of fan support already, before we’ve even shot a minute of the film,” added co-executive producer and co-director Jay Sapiro.  “To have a fan base this big this early gives us a huge boost…knowing that we have such an engaged, built-in audience already.”

There is currently no other indie horror film (a budget of less than $5 million) listed on IMDB as either in-development, in pre-production, in production, or in post-production that has a larger or more engaged fan following than The Nursery.

“We’ve worked hard to engage our fans, who have rewarded us by flocking to The Nursery in amazing numbers and helping us move the film forward,” said co-executive producer Glenn Chung.

The Nursery is an independent horror movie in the tradition of Halloween, Paranormal Activity, and House of the Devil currently in pre-production in and around Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. When college freshman Ranae agrees to babysit for a family with a tragic past, her run-of-the-mill Saturday night quickly turns into a confrontation with unspeakable horror. Stalked by a sinister presence and haunted by ghosts from her own past, Ranae and her friends must confront an angry, evil spirit determined to hunt them down one-by-one on a deliberate march toward its ultimate prey.

Micklos, Sapiro, and Chung are partners in the media development and production firm, Visuality. Though The Nursery will be their first feature film, they have been producing creative, award-winning media together for twenty years. The Nursery begins principal photography in early November.
