RoboCop, Twin Peaks Actor Miguel Ferrer Has Passed Away.

Sources, including his cousin George Clooney, are confirming that actor Miguel Ferrer has passed away. It is being reported that he died in his home today, January 19th 2017, while surrounded by his wife, children and family. The man and voice performer, who people are calling funny, charming, brilliant and empathetic, was 61 at the time of his passing, with the cause of death being attributed to a battle with throat cancer.

Ferrer is most known for his roles as Bob Morton in Paul Verhoeven’s RoboCop (1987), Synder in Sean S. Cunningham’s DeepStar Six (1989), Ralph in William Friedkin’s The Guardian (1990) and as Lloyd Henreid in all four parts of Stephen King’s The Stand (1994). He also played the character of Albert Rosenfield in “Twin Peaks” from 1990 to 1991 and returned to the role in 1992 for Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me and in 2014 for Twin Peaks: Missing Pieces. He is slated to return for at least one episode in the 2017 Showtime revival.

In reference to his horror and science fiction roles, he was also a lead or supporting actor in The Night Flier (1997), Sightings: Heartland Ghost (2002) and in Hard Ride to Hell (2010). Cameo appearances include Star Trek: The Search for Spock (1984) and Iron Man 3 (2013). His most popular out of genre appearances can be found in Badlands where he stars opposite Sharon Stone, Flashpoint, The Manchurian Candidate and Point of No Return. Recurring roles on television include “Bionic Woman,” “Broken Badges,” “Crossing Jordan,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Lateline,” “Shannon’s Deal,” and “NCIS: New Orleans,” a part he held from 2012 until the time of his death.

With so many contributions to The Golden Age of Horror, we’ve truly lost another legend. All of us here at HorrorSociety.com send our condolences to his family, friends and fans.
