Nora Freak
You may know her as Dystopia, Mia Morta, or even Invader Nil. To us she’s just cutie Nora O’Sullivan. The most cheerful girl you will ever meet – but believe us this girl is a big freak. Horror Freak that is! Not only is she a Troma mascot, a special fx super star, she’s also a contestant for Fangoria’s upcoming Spooksmodel contest! There are alot of pretty hot girls up for the win but Nora is a true fan girl and she’s super hot – here’s her story!
How did you get hooked up with TROMA and becoming a Tromette?
I was at Flashback Weekend in 2006, dressed up as a zombie schoolgirl for the costume contest. I was wandering around the dealers room when I noticed that Troma had a booth. I got all excited and went to see if Lloyd Kaufman was there. He wasn’t. I was told, however, that he would be back soon, so I should come back later. So I did. When I came back, Lloyd was standing there. It was my first time ever meeting a horror celebrity. I tried to come up with something charming to say, but when I got up to talk to Lloyd my speech degenerated into nonsensical fangirl rambling. He listened patiently to my outpouring and then looked me up and down. Then he told me to go talk to the people at the merch table about being a Tromette. I was dumbstruck, and still kinda am.
HS: Any plans on becoming the new Scream Queen?
Nora: We’ll see. I think of myself as more of a behind the scenes kinda gal, but people seem to want me in front of the camera. It would be really cool to mix the two, plus I’d be a better bang for the filmmaker’s buck.
HS: What sort of horror movies are your favorites? Slasher, Spooky, Comedies…etc
Nora: Zombies all the way! The idea of losing humanity and being driven, unconsciously, to commit such vile acts scares the hell out of me. Plus, I love watching the makeup and effects and then trying to recreate them at home.
HS: I hear you are taking a Special Effects class, how’s that going/what are you learning?
Nora: I’m actually enrolled at a regular cosmetology school that offers specialty classes in SFX. Unfortunately, I haven’t been at school long enough to take them. So far everything that I know is self taught or taken from books.
HS: Do you plan on doing special effects for movies in the future?
Nora: Well, I just finished working as part of the effects team for The Landlord (http://thelandlordmovie.com/), so I’m scouting for more work right now. I have a couple of things lined up, but I don’t want to say too much before things get firmed up a bit more.
