Dana Bernadine: Far Beyond Bambi. By Brian Kirst
Dana Bernadine is one of Illinois’ upcoming film actresses. Her natural ability and filmic grace allowed her to nearly steal the show as the sensible, sensitive Reagan in Jezebeth Films’ (now Satania 6) The Blind and the Dead. Bernadine is next set to play an antique dealer in David Schmickel’s (Satania 6’s founder) next film Jezebeth. “I’m really looking forward to working directly with Blanca Dandy,” she says. (Dandy was the blind, bewitched lead in TBATD.)
Despite her previous acts of normalcy, Bernadine longs to break loose, though. “I drool over the thought of playing a drug addict or mass murderer,” she states. “Is that too weird?”
Not if you consider the fact that Bernadine’s first remembered movie experience is of Disney’s Bambi fleeing hunters in the forest. “Those images are still burned into my brain,” she exclaims.
But, if Bernadine’s career continues on its upward path, perhaps other images will soon be scoured into her senses. Though, these will be images she, herself, has helped create as one of independent cinema’s most valuable actresses.
