At Dawn they Sleep

At Dawn they Sleep
Directed By Brian Paulin

With a nod to Slayer’s seminal LP, Hell Awaits, director Brian Paulin lifts the curse off the vampire genre with an ultraviolent, bloodsucking story that doesn’t suck.

In crimson geysers we observe a couple of scumbag drug-dealers become vampires; one is elated by his transformation, quickly acclimatizing himself to the sanguinary lifestyle, but the other is conflicted over his new immor(t)ality and its numerous perquisites. Supernatural, but steeped in gritty realistic violence Paulin’s film is an excellent genre-fucking film evoking a lo-fi From Dusk Til Deadbeat At Dawn atmosphere.

A great indie film.
