Why do people make horror films? For their love of film? A driving need to create? Or, for their love of money and a driving need to make more of it?

Occasionally, but then there are those who make the other 99% of horror films: hacks with a lackadaisical ‘how hard could it be to film a horror movie?’ attitude.  Death Factory is not a terrible film, but appears happy in its complacency; coupled with poor acting and direction and an utter lack of vision and conviction, Brain Damage’s less-than-newish acquisition is another lowest common denominator horror film, covering what has been done too many times in the past. A monster is stalking a slew of caricature teens in an abandoned factory with a dubious past.

The only way you could earnestly enjoy this film would be by driving an icepick into your brain; wriggle and sluice it around until you hear a pop sound and then press play on your DVD player

. Sadly, the icepick is sold separately…

  1. Sadly the moron who wrote the above review must be retarded. Not only has he not seen the movie but he has his info wrong as well. Sean Tretta was the director, not Brad Sykes. The icepick should be used to reem the guy who wrote the above review. LM Campbell is one of the those guys who casts stones from the computer in his moms basement. It's sad how people like Mr Campbell feel they can review films they haven't seen and come off like they are someone who's opinion should matter. Those who can't create review. Next time actually watch the movie before you start running your mouth, dipshit.

  2. I think some things need to be clarified in Dustin's comments:

First of all Dustin said that I was a moron, retarded and a dipshit. All three comments contain more than a hint of verisimilitude. Actually, they are all completely true.

"LM Campbell is one of the those guys who casts stones from the computer in his moms basement."

Answer me this Dustin: If I didn't live in my mom's basement – then who would dress me in the morning?

    Ahem, next point…

"It’s sad how people like Mr Campbell feel they can review films they haven’t seen and come off like they are someone who’s opinion should matter."

    Two points of relevance here:

1/ Of course I don't watch the movies that I review. My mom doesn't let me watch scary movies because she know that they give me nightmares and then I'll run upstairs crying and begging to sleep with her again. All of my reviews are based solely on the DVD's cover art. However, if a director is willing to offer me cash, I will gladly give a glowing review of their product. Any interested directors can get my Paypal account number by contacting Horror Society.

2/ Of course my opinion doesn't matter. I completely agree that reviewers are nothing more than parasites feeding off of creative people, but as long as Horror Society keeps paying me I will continue to write.

Finally, while I am more than willing to shoulder any blame, I have to note that it is not my fault that my editor accidentally put up a picture of Death Factory: Bloodletting, instead of the original Death Factory.

I hope this clears everything up…

    ciao

    –OOPS, sorry, my fault!

  4. DRGore.

Can you send me a copy of the DVD artwork for Death Factory: Bloodletting so I can review the film for Horror Society?

    Thanks.

    But seriously…

I have personally been in contact with director Sean Tretta in the past and interviewed him a couple years back when he made the sexually enticing film The Great American Snuff Film. He has a keen sense of obscenity (in relative terms, of course).

Perhaps Dustin could send a promo copy (after all he is Death Factory: Bloodletting's producer) to Horror Society for review?

    ciao

    LM

  5. I do apologize for ripping into the reviewer. A result of a bad day and bad review. The artwork led me to assume that the film being reviewed was The Death Factory Bloodletting. I would be more than happy to send a screener for review. You can even post a bad review if you don't like it and i will not be offended. You have your job, i have mine. LM please contact me and I would glady send you a copy.

I am sorry for flying off the handle and do respect what you do and do appreciate it, although my first remarks may make you think otherwise. Please send me an email and I will get one out to you ASAP. dustinl@emaximmedia.com

    Thanks

  6. Dustin and I have contacted one another and all is fine. He's a good guy who – just like he said was having an off day.

A review of Death Factory: Bloodletting will follow soon…

    ciao

    LM
