Frankenfish

Frankenfish – Directed by Mark Dippe

By LM Campbell

I was greatly disappointed after watching Frankenfish. I was not disillusioned by the gaggle of hunky men and blow-job friendly tarts horrified by a poorly programmed CGI fish monster. I actually don’t quite understand it… All of the characters are fill-in-the-blank stereotypes. Every scenario from ‘lost love found’ to ‘merciless bad guy willing to kill for any fucking ridiculous reason whatsoever’ are covered. And in the finale, karmic justice is doled out accordingly to the evil and altruistic alike.

A ‘shocking’ loophole denouement ends the film, alluding to the possibility of a sequel. With all of this against it, Frankenfish is still a pretty fun film. Frankenfish will undoubtedly be lumped in with other giant feral animal films (see the Lion’s Gate canon), but rises above with a mordant sense of humour; it is more like Lake Placid than Spring Break Shark Attack…
