Hoodoo for Voodoo

Hoodoo for Voodoo (2006)

DIRECTED BY: Stephen Shea
REVIEWED BY: Mario Dominick

From Stephen Shea and Abyssmal Entertainment (the makers of The Night Owl and Andre the Butcher) comes this fun-filled, wacky teen chop ‘em up flick involving mayhem in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. You’re probably thinking, “Haven’t we all seen this before with Hatchet?” But no, this time around it involves voodoo and rituals as kids out having fun in the sun, partying, drinking, having sex and doing drugs fall victim one by one to a psycho at a resort near a voodoo tourist attraction. Who or what could be behind all this mayhem? Suspicions arise and the kids find themselves fighting for their lives.

Hoodoo for Voodoo is funny and gory and delivers the T&A, humor, and schlock. It has a great B-movie cast featuring scream queens Tiffany Shepis, Linney Quigley (as Queen Marie), and Debbie Rochon. Troma founder and president Lloyd Kaufman is also featured in a cameo himself. Stephen Shea co-produced with Jason Liquori of Hocus Focus Productions. The locations that were used in Florida and Louisiana, I must say, aren’t bad for a low budget film. If you’re looking for a slasher comedy respective of the genre and with high camp value, Hoodoo for Voodoo is definitely the way to go.

Abyssmal Entertainment’s DVD of Hoodoo for Voodoo contains a behind-the-scenes featurette, blooper reel, auditions, a music video, a featurette on the film’s music, and trailers.
