Jesse Kozel’s Candy Trailer and Exclusive Pics

Are you a Horror Film fan?  Do you find yourself stopping on horror films when they run on cable?  Do you miss the style and intelligence of Horror films from past decades?  If so, then you are about to find a new hero in Jesse Kozel.

(Trailer and Pics Below…)

If you are not familiar with Jesse Kozel, prepare yourself for a change in the Horror genre with Kozel behind some of the upcoming independent films of the next year.

Kozel stated “I want a return to films of the past.  I fell in love with Hitchock’s style and loved the way his films kept me entranced as a kid.”  Kozel also said “You’ve seen it all before, the shock value is gone.  The gore factor in the horror genre has it’s place, but ever single film does not have to be done that way.  I don’t think that I’m changing horror films, I just think I’m presenting them in a different way.  It’s what I want to see.”

Kozel, along with his producing partner Sage Hall, took a simple style of films of the past and are now presenting it in a brand new format.  “Candy.” is their first endeavor as a team and it seems as though it is picking up momentum. Kozel was on hand as a guest at Creation Entertainment’s Weekend of Horrors in Los Angeles.  As part of the Indie Film Maker panel he was able to discuss the hurdles of making low budget horror and how creativity can make every moment of the film making process special.

“You have to have three things to make a great film on a budget.  A good story, good sound and Actors to sell it.”  Kozel said.  “We’re so used to seeing the same old thing.  Why can’t we be given class and intelligence in our horror films?  That’s what I want to see.  So I made a film that I, as an audience member, would want to sit though.”

He is now in the process of producing and promoting the film “Hellstorm” which he is working on with Houston based production company Epiphany Filmwerks.   It slated slated for a Spring 2011 release.

Kozel has recently produced “Ripped Memories” starring Debbie Rochon and himself as well as “Candy.” and with “Hellstorm” on the horizon, it seems as though Jesse Kozel is beginning to change the way Independent Horror films look.
