Big Cinema Wasteland Update

From Ken: Now that we’re off the road for the year and have been back in the office for a few days, we were able to write up and post bios for all of our confirmed guests for the next Spring Show.

With 15 Guests appearing at CW for the first time next Spring, the list is looking good and generating a nice buzz with fans already. Feel free to read over the guest bios and acquaint yourself with who we’ll be offering up on the alter of Wasteland next time you get a few minutes.

We never get tired of the usual batch of CW Show reminders since they save us from answering the same completely unnecessary to ever answer questions all the time, so here they are again!

TICKETS:  For everything we offer our attending fans, there is no better bargain out there than an advance ticket to a Cinema Wasteland Show we can find; and no better time to plan to be with us for our next show than right now. No “hidden fees” at a Wasteland show guarantees every fan through the door is treated just like the person standing next to you in line; and your ticket in gets you everything we have to offer except for an autograph from our guests.
Every fan who’s ever walked through the door at a CW Show knows that we offer our fans the cheapest advance admission price out of every major movie convention running today. We always have, and prices will not be changing even though every expense it costs us to run the show has gone up consistently for the past few years. What is going to change starting next show is the cut off dates for advance ticket prices.
Order by 1/27/12 and you can get an advance 3-Day Pass for only $35.00. And don’t forget that a 3-Day Pass always gets you into the Dealer and Guest Room half an hour before single day pass holders without paying “early admission fees” other conventions charge fans. You can also save $5.00 on any single day pass ordered in advance before 1/27/12 and get in for only $15.00 per day. (HINT: For people who have ask us, two single day passes in advance IS a “two day pass special” when you think about it. The only thing you’ll miss out on by buying two single day passes in advance is getting in early on Friday before regular scheduled show hours begin.)

NO RECEIPTS WILL BE MAILED: Beginning with the October 2011 Show, we quit mailing out receipts for passes unless you order them by mail and don’t have a computer. From here on out, you will be emailed a receipt, and you will need to print out the receipt and bring it with you, or simply have an ID handy in order to pick up your passes at registration.

HOTEL:  One thing you can always count on is that the hotel will be sold out by show time. We take over the entire hotel, so things fill up nice and steady until there’s no rooms left by the show’s weekend start time. Help support the show and avoid the headache of having to stay down the road by making your room reservations today. Reserve your room through our web site, or by calling The Holiday Inn direct at (440) 238-8800. Remember you MUST ask for “The Cinema Wasteland Room Rate”, or they will tell you that they are ”sold out” and have no rooms. And PLEASE only reserve as many rooms as you plan on using. If you need to book more than one room, please call Lynn directly at 1-440-783-3006 and she will take care of your multiple room reservations.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY MOVIE OR SHORT FILM FOR THE CW INDY FILM FEST?:  We get this question all the time so I figured I’d remind everyone of how things work here at Wasteland World Central when it comes to submitting your short film or feature length movie. First Rule: Your movie or short film needs to be 100% finished before we’ll consider screening it. Second Rule: Your movie or short film needs to be 100% finished before we’ll even look at it. Third Rule: When your movie or short film is completely finished, just send us off a screener to watch and consider. Make sure you include contact information so we can get back to you if we do decide to screen your short or feature, and patiently wait to see if we get back to you. It’s that easy. Since we’ve always supported the independent filmmaker, we don’t do things like your average every day film festival does things. Namely, we don’t charge to screen your movie or short film and just take your money and run whatever somebody sends us. We simply watch everything that is sent to us and fit as many indy films into the weekend schedule that we can squeeze in around all the other guest related movies and events that we normally cram into a Wasteland Weekend. We have and do keep film submissions for up to one year’s time so if we don’t screen your film or short one show, it very well could make the next show. We do watch and tend to enjoy everything we receive but please don’t take it personally if we don’t screen your submission. Chances are it just didn’t make it into the weekend schedule because we received way too many submissions in a short amount of time and/or had more films that fit a certain theme that matches the weekend we’re currently running. Because we don’t charge to screen your film or short, it does not come with free passes into the show. A pass into the CW Show however is much cheaper than any film festival submission prices.

We’re now thankfully off the road for the year and I’ve already planned out next week’s big family dinner since ol’ Uncle Ken has taken over the family cooking chores these past few years. Unless we get a day just to head up and shop we won’t be set up (or just like it goes at every show we set up at, we’d be the lowest priced poster and paper dealer in the room), but just in case you don’t have anything to do next weekend and live close enough to make the drive, our friends at Monsters Among Us are holding the Paper Asylum Vintage Collectible Convention on November 26th and 27th in Erie, PA. Find out more at paperasylum.com.

Speaking of Posters, Paper, and Collectibles; you can’t go wrong checking out the Cinema Wasteland Merchandise pages on the CW web site. We’ve got something for every movie fan on your holiday shopping list at some of the best prices you’ll find, AND we’re about ready to unleash a couple “Holiday Shopping Specials” here in the next few days to everyone on the merchandise mailing list.

Here at Wasteland World Central, we’re all about what we call “The Three F’s” as the holiday’s roll around: Family, Friends, and Food. With Thanksgiving right around the corner now, here’s wishing every Wastelander out there a safe and happy day filled with family you can actually stand for a few hours, plenty of friends to help ease the pain of spending a day with family, and all the food your belly needs in order to take a nap in front of something as boring as whatever sports your drunken Uncle insists on forcing everyone to watch when anything else would be preferred.

Until next time,

Ken
