Those folks behind the Horror Realm conventions in Pittsburgh, PA. are having a screening of two rare horror films in 16mm on Saturday, January 19th, 2013  in partnership with the Crowne Plaza Pittsburgh South.  The film screenings begin at 8pm in the Washington Room.  The films to be screened are Dark Intruder (1965) and Psycho-Circus (1966).

From the Press Release:

Films to be screened are:

Dark Intruder – In this 1965 horror film, set in San Francisco during the Victorian age, a criminologist finds himself involved in a hellish situation when a disfigured wizard conjures up a demon to help him transfer his soul into the perfect body of his popular twin brother. The film was originally a television pilot for the show The Dark Cloak, which was deemed too violent for TV and instead was given a limited theatrical release.  Film critic Leonard Maltin says “intricate plot and exceptional use of the time period blending with suspense make this a one-of-a-kind movie.” The movie appears to be unreleased on either VHS or DVD.  Starring Leslie Nielsen, Peter Mark Richman and Werner Klemperer. Directed by Harvey Hart.

Psycho-Circus (1966) – aka Circus of Fear – When an armored car is robbed, one of the gang hides the money in a circus. The police begin investigating when people are found murdered by throwing knives. Originally released in Germany, the films stars Christopher Lee, Klaus Kinski and Suzy Kendall. Directed by John Llewellyn Moxey.

Admission is $5 for the program and includes free popcorn (while supplies last).  A cash bar will be available at PJ’s Grille and Bar inside the Crowne Plaza.  Both films are unrated in the US; recommended audience is 18 and older.

The Crowne Plaza is located at 164 Fort Couch Road in Bethel Park (15241), across from South Hills Village shopping mall.  There is ample free parking on site and the hotel is approximately ¼ mile from the SHV light rail transit station.

Horror Realm has big plans for 2013 including two conventions and a horror themed event every month.  Details on the Bloody Valentine Party on February 9 will be released shortly.  The Spring Break Massacre convention has been expanded to three days (March 15-17) and features guests Danielle Harris and Kane Hodder plus an Irish Wake Party.  The 5th Anniversary fall convention will be held September 20-22.  The Crowne Plaza Pittsburgh South serves as home for both shows.  Details on the year’s events will be released soon.

So if you happen to be in the Pittsburgh area this Saturday night, stop on by and check the films out, sounds like a good time to me.
