So it looks as if AFTERSHOCK from Eli Roth is not making a good impression on most people. I haven’t seen it yet, but from what I have heard, and a few of the reviews I have read, its your average horror/disaster movie. Still interested to check it out for myself, and if any readers have seen it, chime in on the comment section below and let us know what you thought!
From Boston.com:
Given how the torture-porn genre has been waning, credited writers Roth, Lopez and Guillermo Amodeo bring down the ketchup count considerably here, and ‘‘Aftershock’’ is less of an all-out bloodbath than a throwback to hokey horror and disaster flicks from the ‘70s and ‘80s.
From USA Today:
If a massive earthquake and several huge aftershocks aren’t enough to inspire maximum tension, try adding brutal rapes, escaped prison inmates gone savage and a looming tsunami. This lurid hybrid is equal parts disaster movie and slasher exploitation film.
Aftershock (* ½ out of four; rated R; opening Friday nationwide) gleefully pulls out all the stops. It’s an unrelentingly brutal movie….
